Groups, workshops and presentations at Fremantle Women's Health Centre are provided to promote your health and wellbeing. A range of therapeutic, support, exercise, self-help, educational and social groups are available.

A warm invitation is extended to all mothers who are experiencing depression, anxiety or stress related to child birth and mothering. You can share with other women who are having similar experiences, make new connections, get and give support in a safe, non-judgmental, respectful and relaxing environment and gain knowledge on how to manage your feelings. This therapeutic, support group is facilitated by an experienced Senior Counsellor on Wednesdays 10 - 12noon. The cost is $10 per session for group and crèche facilities. As we get older it is important to stay fit and healthy. The Wise Women over 50 exercise class provides a fun and social way to do just that. Safe, low-to-moderate intensity exercise incorporating gentle aerobic activity, strength, stretching and balance training. This exercise can help to manage weight, blood pressure, blood sugars and cholesterol. It improves fitness, balance, co-ordination and flexibility as well as improving general wellbeing and quality of life, no matter what your age or fitness level. This class is taught by a qualified personal trainer on Thursday 2 - 3pm. To register contact FWHC reception on 9431 0500.
Portuguese speaking women are invited to meet for fun, support, laughter, food, exercise and occasional events. Currently women meet on Thursday 2 – 4pm, join the wise women's exercise class and then socialise over afternoon tea. To join contact FWHC reception on 9431 0500.
Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope are recovering from compulsive overeating. OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance, or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organisation and does not promote any particular diet. This self-help support group meets Wednesdays 7.30 - 8.30pm. A program of different courses and workshops are run throughout the year. These include full body, seated, and hot stone massage. A therapeutic full body massage course for beginners includes advanced Swedish massage, an introduction to reflexology and acupressure points, kidney and sinus drainage. The hot stone massage course covers the use of stones in massage for the back and front of the body. For more information and to register contact Kaye on 0414 408 541.
These yoga classes are free. They are taught by student teachers on placement from the Yoga Space for 8 consecutive weeks. You can join for the 8 week course or come on a casual basis. This is a parenting program that provides a road map to guide parents in learning about their child's emotional needs and how they can respond. It is provided by FWHC in partnership with St John of God's Raphael Services for women with babies and infants. It is a weekly group run over 8 weeks in our group room with a crèche provided for the children. The first group ran from 10 August to 28 September 2016. There is a cost of $10 per session for group and crèche.
This is a free10 week support group for mothers and their 0-6 month old infants (pre-crawling). The infants are included in the weekly sessions. It provides a safe and welcoming environment in which women can gently explore their thoughts and feelings toward their new role and relationships. This group is facilitated by professionals with expertise in infant-parent relationships from Playgroup WA at FWHC. The group starts the first week of each school term. This workshop is best attended 3-4 weeks before your baby's birth day, and will refresh your memory on the 'how labour works' part of your earlier Preparation for Childbirth classes. It is full of tips and techniques to prepare you for a great birth. It includes birth positions, visualisations, relaxation, massage and the role of your support person. These monthly workshops are facilitated by staff from The Bump WA at FWHC on the second Saturday of the month from 1-5pm. Phone 9498 6033 to book or book online at www.thebumpwa.org.au . Learn how to massage your baby and the benefits for your child. These classes are run when there are women interested on a Friday morning between 10am and 12 noon. The instructor is an experienced paediatric nurse and neonatal specialist with qualifications in infant massage. She offers her services free and charges $25 for the instruction manual and bottle of baby massage oil. To register your interest phone FWHC reception on 9431 0500.
Bowen therapy contributes to overall health while addressing specific problems by restoring balance via the autonomic nervous system. Some areas that Bowen therapy may assist include back, groin, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, digestive and bowel problems, hip, knee, ankle and foot problems, respiratory problems, low energy, stress and anxiety. Treatment is completely safe for al ages and all degrees of health. A trained Bowen Therapist is offering free sessions of 45mins-1hour for a limited period at FWHC on Friday mornings 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th November 2016. Bookings are essential, phone 0410 383 315.
